Cathy Hawn - I Want a Lotta Love for Christmas

Cathy Hawn - I Want a Lotta Love for Christmas

In the 1970’s, Dean Martin seemed to be going through a severe mid-life crisis.

On Valentine’s Day of 1972, he filed for divorce from Jeanne, his second wife, whom he had been married to for nearly 25 years. A week later he discontinued his business partnership with the Riviera casino due to the casino’s refusal to submit to his request to perform only once a night.

At the age of 56, less than a month after his second marriage had been legally dissolved, Martin married 26 year-old Catherine Hawn, on April 25, 1973, with Frank Sinatra as his best man. As a thank-you gesture from Dean, Frank received a diamond-encrusted gold cigarette lighter, with an obscene inscription. Dean and Cathy divorced just three years later, in November of 1976.

Cathy Hawn released a Christmas single called “I Want a Lotta Love for Christmas.” After listening to this song, it’s obvious that Dino wasn’t attracted to her for her singing, or to recruit her as a singer for the Golddiggers.
