Davy Jones - When I Look Back On Christmas

Davy Jones - When I Look Back On Christmas

Davy Jones is an English-born actor and singer, best known as a member of The Monkees. As a teenager he appeared to great acclaim in the musical Oliver! as the Artful Dodger, playing the role both in London and on Broadway, where he was nominated for a Tony Award. As part of the Oliver! cast, Jones appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show on the same night that the Beatles made their American TV debut on the show.

From 1965 to 1970, Jones was a member of The Monkees, a pop-rock group formed expressly for a TV show of the same name. He sang lead vocals on many of the group’s songs, including “I Wanna Be Free” and “Daydream Believer.”

Davy Jones became a popular teen idol, with his pictures appearing in many fanzines of the era, such as “Tiger Beat.” Davy also made an appearance as himself on The Brady Bunch television show, and in the recent Brady Bunch movie.

After The Monkees went off the air and the group disbanded, Davy Jones continued to perform solo, later joining his former bandmates in reunion tours. He has also appeared in several productions of Oliver! as Fagin.

In 1997, Davy Jones released an album called “It’s Christmas Time Again” (later retitled “Christmas Jones“), which has a sappy Christmas song called “When I Look Back On Christmas.”
