I wanted to make a tribute to Malaspina through a song post and immediately thought of one of my fondest nicknames for the house that my family has called home for the last 21 years, The White Hotel. The song by Ian McCulloch with that name is what I wanted to use, but it has lost its luster for me over as much time and I didn’t think it would be appropriate to put up here. As fate would have it, a quick glance at the folder for Candleland had me realizing there was a much more appropriate song for the occasion. That is this one here. It pulls at my heart from memories of being in the house, gives me thought of my own need to let go and of the house’s need to continue to be what it always was for us…a family’s home.
Goodbye White Hotel, you will never be forgotten and I wish you and your new inhabitants as much joy as we culled from your soulful walls all these years. I love you.
